Level 2: Desert Moon Pendant

Pre-requisite: Two Level 1 classes must be completed prior to signing up for any Level 2 class.
Class Description: The construction of this Arizona themed Desert Moon Pendant features a Sterling Silver moon rising in a yellow brass sky over a desert landscape of textured copper mountains with a Sterling Silver snake in the foreground. This project provides an opportunity to review skills that you have already learned such as use of the disc cutter, making holes for the jumpring bail and using the dapping blocks to achieve a contour. You will also use the jeweler's saw with an emphasis on turning corners to shape your mountains. You'll be learning to solder layers together. You'll learn to sweat solder wire to sheet and sheet metal to other sheets of metal. Then, you'll decide if you want dawn or dusk depending upon the finishing touch you choose to complete your pendant.
General Notes for all the Metalsmith Workshops: Your class fee includes supplies. It is our goal to have you walking out with a completed item or nearly completed item by the end of class. As always in Tippy's classes, use of tools is included. There's nothing you need to bring as a general rule. For metalsmith class you may be asked to purchase your own N95 face mask available at Ace Hardware. All the other safety equipment is provided including a shop apron and safety glasses. Please wear natural fiber clothing and closed toed shoes. Keep your hair tied back and any dangling jewelry, sleeves or ties way from your hands and face. We ask that you stow your personal belongings away from your working area to provide an unobstructed path to the door and sink area.
